My experience with Laping, Surdej Associates came about in late 2005. My husband had Parkinsons’ Disease and after taking care of him for nine years, I found I needed professional help, thus Laping, Surdej Associates came into my life. His medical bills became astronomical and in working with Kristin Surdej, I found that my husband had to go on Medicaid. Kristin was with me every step of the way, in addition to letting me know what documentation I needed. My husband spent five months in the hospital and then to a nursing home. This was also handled by Kristin Surdej, making sure we would find the facility that was best for his needs.
I could never have gotten through this situation without Kristin and her company. My husband was in the nursing home for almost four years and Kristin worked with me all this time. When he needed help from the outside, when issues could not be solved by the nursing home, Kristin was only a phone call away and worked things out in a professional manner. When I first met Kristin, my impression was that she was so young and probably wasn’t knowledgeable enough to help me. She definitely changed my first impression. I had no clue how complicated the whole process of Medicaid would be. I was extremely impressed by Kristin’s extensive knowledge about applying for Medicaid.
I felt very comfortable working with Kristin and I knew she would do everything she could to make sure I got Medicaid for my husband, who has Alzheimer’s dementia. She kept in contact with me. "I just wanted to thank you for the way things went yesterday when you visited me and my parents. They had both been apprehensive -- especially mom. I think she was afraid someone would come in and tell her she had to go to a home or that dad could no longer care for her -- and instead you came in and in a very understanding way made some really good suggestions that sounded do-able and relatively non-intrusive. They both said afterwards that they liked you and dad has already started working on your suggestions and mom was in a rare cheerful mood last night -- which was a great sign. I think dad is very determined to do this and will do whatever it takes, and now he has someone who can help him find ways.
